Woman charged with arson after apartment fire Friday

Sioux City Police have arrested Adasa Tafolla, 29 after an investigation with Sioux City Fire Rescue, they say started a fire at 417 Main Street on Friday afternoon displacing tenants from their home.

A release from Sioux City Police says that Tafolla and 2 juveniles occupied the bottom apartment in which the fire was intentionally started. The apartment above was occupied by a couple and their one-month-old child and the third apartment was not occupied at the time of the fire.

Adasa Tafolla, 29 was charged with 1st Degree Arson and 1st Degree Criminal Mischief and is being held at the Woodbury County Jail, her next court appearance scheduled for December 6th at 9:00AM

Sioux City Fire Rescue responded to an apartment fire about 1:50PM on Friday Afternoon in the 400 Block of Main Street in the Cook Park area of Sioux City.

Crews were able to get the fire extinguished quickly but the fire has displayed residents which are being assisted by the Red Cross. According to Captain Rich Andersen of Sioux City Fire Rescue, the fire started in an apartment and is under investigation. No injuries were reported and all residents accounted for.
