The investigation into the shooting, additional robberies and burglaries are ongoing. Police Chief Doug Young did say that Isaiah Mothershed home invasion charge is related to an incident that happened on December 7th, 2015 at 2627 South Alice St in Sioux City.
Chief Young did not know if stolen property or drugs were found at the scene and that ATF would likely be investigating the guns found in the apartment.
When asked how they felt about Mothershed's charges last year of kidnapping being dismissed. He said it's disappointing when officers bring charges like that and they are dismissed and now Mothershed was able to commit additional crimes and shoot a police officer.
Chief Young also said that he believes the Media's sensationalizing of crime is making it harder for law enforcement to do their job.
In the early morning hours of February 7th Sioux City police officers were following up on a string of burglaries and robberies in the Sioux City area. During the investigation officers located several individuals believed to be involved at 2947 Park Avenue Apt C 13.
