First Suspect in Pursuit that lead to shots fired identified

Court documents say that Brittney Hood was the initial driver when deputies attempted to stop a car for a brake light violation and improper use of lanes. The vehicle failed to stop and the deputy initiated a pursuit that started near 260th and Barker Avenue North of Salix, Iowa.

The pursuit lasted a short time reaching speeds of over 80mph in a 55mph zone and 70mph in a 45mph zone. The vehicle came to a stop North of 235th and Port Neal Road where Hood ran on foot into a field where she was apprehended. In addition to charges related to the pursuit, Hood refused to comply with commands during her arrest.

Another occupant in the vehicle then took off with the vehicle and deputies pursued until the chase ended in gunfire with one of the two remaining suspects injured with a gunshot wound while the other was apprehended a couple hours later hiding in the area. Read more on that here.

Brittney Lynn Hood, a 27-year-old female was arrested and charged with Aggravated Eluding, No Drivers License, Improper Lane Change, Singal/Lamp Violation, and a Warrant out of Minnesota.
