This particular scam involves the caller telling the recipient of the call that there is a warrant for their or a member of their family or one of their friends. They may also say that person is already incarcerated and money needs to be sent immediately.

Woodbury County Sheriff's Office says they are unaware of any Law Enforcement agency that operates in this manner and you should never give out or confirm any information with the caller. Never wire money, provide bank account information, prepaid credit/debit card or other financial information with someone who calls you.

You should hang up and contact a published phone number (not necessarily the caller id) of the agency that you received the phone call from to verify it's validity.
