A teen that left the scene of fatal accident charged with vehicular homicide

Court Documents say Eduardo Herrera was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier at speeds of 76mph seconds before it crashed in the 1500 Block of West 2nd Street in Sioux City on October 31, 2016, killing his passenger Miguel Silvas-Sanchez.

Herrera is said to have left the scene of the accident and later went to Unity Point St Lukes in Sioux City seeking treatment. The police department was contacted and blood taken was positive for alcohol and Metabolite of THC.

The investigation determined that Herrera's blood alcohol level would have been above the legal limit at the time of the crash.

Eduardo Herrera has been charged with Vehicular Homicide and Leaving the scene of a fatal accident. He was booked into the Dakota County Jail on April 12, 2016 on a Warrant for Woodbury County and transferred to Woodbury County on the 14th where he has since posted bond of $25,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 24th, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.
