Sioux City Police warn of tree trimming scam thefts

According to a release from the Sioux City Police Department on February 18th 2016, the police are warning of a tree trimming scam that happened on 3 occasions the first 2 weeks of February.

On February 5th, 13th and 15th police received reports that 2 to 4 white males in their 20's to 40's, one with Sandy colored hair, another with brown hair and heavyset. The individuals posed as tree trimmers in order to steal from homeowners.

In each case, the suspects were at the residences to do tree trimming work. While there they entered the residences and stole items of value. The suspect vehicle is described as a light-colored work truck with over-sized tires.

Police remind you to use caution when being approached by anyone wanting to do work at your home and to not let them inside. If you become suspicious of any activity please notify the police immediately.
