Stolen vehicle recovered and two arrested after pursuit from North Sioux into Sioux City

About 20 minutes after one on Thursday Morning September 7th North Sioux City Police spotted a parked, unoccupied stolen Chevrolet Cruz in a parking lot.

Just before 2:00 am North Sioux City Police watched as 3 people got into the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled at a high rate of speed into Sioux City with North Sioux City and Union County in pursuit.

Sioux City Police attempted to assist with spike strips as the pursuit traveled down Military Road at speeds of up to 95 miles per hour. The pursuit went north on Hamilton Boulevard and then East on Outer Drive.

The driver bailed on foot into the Golf Course and two other vehicle occupants were detained by North Sioux City Police while Sioux City Police and Police K9 searched the area for the driver locating him on the Golf Course in the area of 4200 Block of Hamilton Blvd.

The driver, Blake Nicholas Schoenherr, 24 was arrested and charged with Theft 2nd, Felony Eluding and 2 counts of probation violation, one for Theft 2nd and the other for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine. Schoenherr is currently being held on $20,000 Bond.

A passenger 25-year-old Russel Scott Bergenske was also arrested for an outstanding warrant for Forgery in Woodbury County and another warrant out of Union County for Grand Theft. He’s being held on $8000 Bond.
