Good Samaritans render aid to occupants of truck struck by a train Thursday

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office responded to Highway 77 and 200th Street Near Dakota City about 11:30 am Thursday morning August 9th for reports of a vehicle struck by a train.

Officials say A Blue Ford F150 failed to yield to the train when crossing the tracks on 200th Street onto Highway 77 and was struck by the train. The truck flipped and landed on its top. Good Samaritans stopped and rendered first aid to the occupants before rescuers arrived and they were transported to the hospital.

Dakota City Rescue transported the drive by Ambulance and Mercy Air Care transported the passenger. Dakota City Fire Rescue, Homer Fire Rescue, South Sioux City Police, Nebraska State Patrol and BNSF Police all assisted at the scene.
