Owner spots their stolen vehicle suspect in jail after overnight pursuit

The owner of a stolen Maroon Jetta contacted police about 8:30PM on Thursday to report they had seen their vehicle near Morningside Ave and South Lyons, police checked the area and were unable to locate it.

About 4:40AM Sioux City Police saw a vehicle matching that of the stolen one going Northbound on Floyd from 11tth. Once verified they attempted to stop it near 13th and Court. A pursuit began through Downtown, Greenville, and Morningside areas for about 10 minutes before the suspect took off on foot near Peters Ave and South St Aubin after crashing the car. Police caught up with him and were able to take him into custody about 5:05AM near 15th and South Royce.

Police requested the Fire Department for cleanup from the accident and a tow for the vehicle.

Police arrested Blake Putnam who is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $18,400 bond, it's unknown if he's the one from the chase at this time. His charges include. theft 2nd, eluding (d felony), prob violation, speeding, reckless driving, drive lic revoked, stop at stop sign, leaving scene of pd, drive left of cntr, stop at stop sign, stop at stop sign, no veh insurance
