Hit and Run Semi vs Bicycle

According to a release from the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department they are searching for a driver of a Semi who struck a bicyclist while attempting to pass them at the intersection of C16 and Pioneer Avenue on Wednesday about 8:40AM Northeast of Le Mars in Plymouth County.

Plymouth County Sheriff's Release
On Wednesday morning, 6/8/16, at approximately 8:40 a.m., the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office was called to the intersection of C16 and Pioneer Avenue just east of K64 in rural Plymouth County in reference to a bicyclist that was struck by a semitrailer. A bicyclist was traveling eastbound on C16 when a semitrailer attempting to pass the bicycle failed to yield to the bike and struck the operator causing injury to the rider. The semitrailer continued eastbound and failed to stop after the accident. The rider, Rudy Folkerts, age 53 of Orange City, Iowa, was transported to the Orange City Hospital with minor injuries. The sheriff's office was assisted by Oyens ambulance. Any information on a possible driver of the semitrailer should be forwarded to the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office.
