Plymouth County Sheriff's Department, Iowa State Patrol, Akron Fire, Akron Ambulance, and Siouxland Paramedics responded to the 32000 Block of Highway 12 about 2 miles North of Stone State Park about 8:00AM Sunday Morning for reports of an accident with one dead and one injured.

Officials say one person was transported to the hospital with injuries and another was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is being investigated by Plymouth County Sheriff's Office with assistance from Iowa State Patrol, Le Mars Police Department, Plymouth County Medical Examiner and the State Medical Examiner.

The preliminary investigation shows the driver of a 2003 Mitsubishi was Northbound on Highway 12 where it lost control entering the ditch and rolling several times before coming to rest in a cornfield. The cause of the accident is not known at this time but alcohol is believed to be a factor.
