Moville bank robbery suspect in custody after short pursuit that ended in crash near Salix

The suspect in an early afternoon Robbery of the United Bank of Iowa in Moville Friday morning March 30th is in custody after a short pursuit by Iowa State Patrol that ended in the stolen BMW he was driving to roll before coming to a rest in a yard just North of Salix at Buchanan Avenue and 260th Street.

Sheriff Dave Drew almost immediately tweeted out information about the Robbery and suspect information including a photo of the suspect.

12:47 pm No weapon was brandished in the robbery.
1:53 pm Black BMW DDJ097 possible suspect vehicle. Reportedly stolen out of Polk County matching the description of the suspect vehicle in Moville bank robbery.

Major Tony Wingert said that soon after the Robbery law enforcement determined the suspect may be driving a Black BMW reported stolen out of Polk County. The vehicle was located with the help of GPS, Iowa State Patrol, and Woodbury County Deputies searching the area when a Trooper located the vehicle with a flat tire and the driver quickly took off leading the Trooper on a short chase reaching speeds of over 90 miles per hour before going airborne and crashing rolling into the ditch.

Medical attention was provided on scene by Salix ambulance and the suspect was transported to Mercy Medical Center with unknown injuries.

The crash will be investigated and handled by the Iowa State Patrol and the Robbery by Woodbury County Sheriff's Office along with Federal Officials.
