Stolen license plate leads to arrest of man on multiple charges

Just before 1:00 am Tuesday morning September 25th a Sioux City Police officer spotted a vehicle on Gordon Drive with a stolen license plate. The officer followed the vehicle, a 2008 Hyundai Sonata into the Regency Mobile Home Park.

The vehicle did not stop for lights or sirens and continued through the mobile home park. The suspect jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot before being apprehended by officers. Radio traffic indicated the officer deployed their taser and the suspect fell to the ground hitting their head, they were checked out by EMS before being taken to the Woodbury County jail.

Court Documents say in addition to the stolen license plate the suspect's vehicle also had a cracked windshield and was unable to maintain lanes on Gordon Drive. When captured 24-year-old Andrew James Saul-Hemmelamn was found to be in possession of .6 grams of Methamphetamine.

Charges include, Theft 5th, Eluding, Improper Lane Change, Fraudulent
Use of registrations, No Drivers License, No Vehicle Insurance, Possession of Drugs, Impaired Vision and Parole Violation. Saul-Hemmelman is being held in the Woodbury County jail on $23,000 Bond.
