Head-on collision traps one driver and sends two to hospital early Wednesday in Sioux City

At 1:57 am Wednesday, November 14th Sioux City Police received 911 calls of a head-on collision at 5200 South Lewis Boulevard in Sioux City. Police, Fire, and EMS responded and found a 1996 Toyota 4 Runner had collided head-on with a 2018 Freightliner Semi.

Police say the driver of the 4 Runner, a 23-year-old female was initially unconscious and trapped inside her vehicle before being extracted by Sioux City Fire Rescue and transported to the hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Semi, a 52-year-old male was also transported to the hospital where they were treated and released.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, initial findings show the Toyota crossed the center line while traveling Southbound. The semi Northbound attempted to avoid the crash by changing into the Southbound lane when the two vehicles collided.
