Robbery suspect arrested Friday evening after short standoff with police on Virginia Street

Sioux City Police responded about 8:45 pm Friday evening to 1519 Virginia Street after they received reports that a robbery suspect from earlier in the day was at the residence.

Police made numerous announcements over the course of an hour and people that were not the suspect exited the home. After continued announcements police entered the home and took the suspect into custody without incident.

The suspect was wanted after two incidents Friday morning, the first on the 1500 block of Virigina where he approached someone in a vehicle and acted as if he had a gun demanding their car. A short time later after crashing the vehicle and leaving the scene of a crash.

The suspect Juanito Meza Gonzales, 24 was booked into the Woodbury County Jail charged with Robbery 2nd.
