North Sioux City Pursuit Ends on Sioux Citys Westside with Driver in Custody After Foot Chase

Just before 5pm the North Sioux City Police Department pursued a vehicle into Sioux City. The vehicle, a green 2003 Dodge Ram pickup, was reported to have been traveling over 100 mph. After exiting into Riverside, the vehicle drove into the city's west side where the Sioux City Police Department observed the vehicle traveling over 80 mph on W 4th St. North Sioux City terminated the pursuit due to the heavy traffic in the area.

A short time later a vehicle accident was reported in the 1600 block of W 14th St where a green Dodge Ram pickup struck a parked vehicle head-on. A second parked vehicle was also damaged in the accident. The suspect fled on foot, but officers located him near W 5th and Myrtle where they pursued on foot. The suspect ran through an unlocked home in the area before officers located him hiding in a bush near W 4th and Center St.

Officers arrested Justin Michael Derby, 40, of Sioux City on charges of Aggravated Eluding, Simple Eluding, Reckless Driving, Driving While License Suspended, Speeding, Criminal Trespass and Driving Left of Center. Additional charges are pending.
