K9 apprehends driver after pursuit through Plymouth and Woodbury Counties

Woodbury County Deputies helped bring a pursuit of speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour to a stop a little after 7:00 pm tonight.

The pursuit began in Plymouth County after a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The pursuit traveled South on K49 and West on D12 until just before Highway 75 when the driver ran over stop sticks flattening the tires.

The pursuit slowed until the driver lost control on the Highway 75/Floyd Boulevard interchange in Sioux City where the car crashed into the ditch. The driver 23-year-old Alexander Eugene Summers got out and ran on foot before being apprehended by a Woodbury County K9.

Summers was checked out by EMS on the scene and transported to Mercy Medical Center by Deputies before being booked into the Woodbury County Jail charged with Eluding, OWI 2nd, Reckless Driving, No Insurance, No Drivers License, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Interference with Official Acts.
