Truck catches fire causes temporary delays on Interstate 29 South of Sioux City

Just before 11:00AM Thursday Northbound traffic on Interstate 29 was delayed after a truck pulling a trailer caught fire.



Salix Fire Rescue responded and put out the flames. The road was back open to 1 lane by 11:30AM and fully once the truck and trailer were removed.

Sergeant Benson with the Woodbury County Sheriff's Office said they believe the fire started in the transmission, the driver told us they pulled over as soon as they saw smoke and the truck soon erupted into flames.

Woodbury County Sheriff's Office and Iowa State Patrol provided traffic control while the fire was extinguished and the truck and trailer removed.

The interior of the cab and the engine compartment suffered severe fire damage. Nobody was injured and the fire did not spread to the trailer.
