Two semis collide South of Sloan on Interstate 29

About 7:31 p.m. Monday, Woodbury County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa State Patrol and Sloan Fire Rescue responded to Mile-Marker 127 on Interstate 29 Northbound just South of Sloan for an accident involving 2 semis.

Radio traffic indicated that a semi hauling cattle rear-ended another semi pulling a trailer. Deputies requested assistance from Monona County Sheriff’s Department as the accident was in Monona County. Traffic was diverted to the passing lane and to keep traffic flowing.

The driver of the semi had to be extracted from the truck which took some time. Siouxland Paramedics were requested by Sloan Ambulance. The patient was transported about 8:10 p.m. to a Sioux City Hospital. The extent of the driver's injuries are unknown but radio traffic indicated leg pain.

Woodbury County Deputies were on the scene until about 9:30 p.m. As of about 9:50 p.m. Google Maps still shows delays at the scene.

Iowa Department of Transportation also assisted at the scene.Expect delays near Mile Marker 127 Northbound just South of Sloan Iowa.
