Shortly before 2 a.m. on Wednesday, December 25, Sioux City police officers responded to a call about an unknown disturbance at 2100 Paxton Street. As officers arrived, the situation escalated when the disturbance was reported to involve a moving vehicle—a silver passenger car.

The vehicle struck a Sioux City Police cruiser near Garretson Avenue and Sioux Trail and fled the scene without stopping. Officers pursued the vehicle using GPS tracking through a 911-call and eventually stopped it near Lewis Pool. During the chase, the vehicle also collided with a fire hydrant near 3100 Garretson Avenue.

The driver, identified as 30-year-old Kayla Jo Dressen, was taken into custody. She faces multiple charges, including Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Failure to Attach a Drug Tax Stamp.
