Gunshot Incident at Dean Apartments Sunday Leads to Hospitalization and Arrest"

On December 4, 2023, at around 2:35 AM, Sioux City Police Department officers were dispatched to Dean Apartments at 1716 Nebraska Street following a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found 30-year-old Wesley John Moniz with a gunshot wound to his arm. Moniz was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his minor injuries.

At the scene, evidence confirming a shooting was discovered. However, Moniz did not cooperate with investigators and refused to provide details about the incident. During the investigation, it was also found that Moniz had an outstanding warrant for violating his probation. After receiving medical care, Moniz was arrested and taken to the Woodbury County Jail.
