Rescuers respond to Sioux City Marina after witness says man didnt resurface

Sioux City Police say Sunday, October 22nd at 8:31 am they were dispatched to the Sioux City Public Boat Ramp for an individual acting bizarre. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the individual.

At 9:59 am Sioux City Fire Rescue, Sioux City Police, and Siouxland Dive Rescue responded to the private boat dock at the Sioux City Marina after a witness working on his boat heard a splash and found a male in the water. When the witness attempted to help the man the went under the surface and did not come back up. The witness called 911 and was able to tell responders where the man went under.

Divers were able to locate the man a short time later who had drowned. The individual was later identified as a 34-year-old male from Sioux City. Police continue to investigate the incident.
