Head Start put on lockdown after vehicle window shot out

Police responded to a Sioux City Head Start on the 1200 Block of 18th Street about 2:40PM on Wednesday afternoon after a window was shot out of staff member's car while they were in it.

Police searched the area and surrounding area and were unable to locate anyone. Sergeant Jay Hoogendyk said It's believed the shot was from a BB Gun from South of the parking lot. It's not known at this time if the individual was targeted or if it just happened to hit their vehicle. The investigation is ongoing. Nobody was injured.

The school was temporarily placed on lockdown while police searched the area and will be contacting parents about the incident and their safety protocols.
