Suspect crashes car into tree while trying to elude police

Sioux City Police were notified about 8:40PM on Wednesday of a Pursuit of a white passenger car in the City by Iowa State Patrol.

About 8:45PM the suspect crashed the vehicle into a tree in the area of Transit and South Glass. A resident of the neighborhood tells Siouxland Scanner they heard screeching and then felt their house shake. The suspect fled on foot leaving their work boots behind. Sioux City Police, Iowa State Patrol, and a Police K9 searched the area for about 30 minutes before taking the suspect into custody.

Police say Taylor admitted to using methamphetamine and marijuana and failed standardized field sobriety tests. During the pursuit, the complaint says Taylor reached speeds of 107MPH in a 55MPH zone, ignored a stop light and passed another vehicle on the right.

Police arrested 25-year-old Jacob Taylor, charged with Eluding, Speeding, Fail to Obey Traffic Control Device, No Drivers License, and Improper Passing. Taylor is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $6,000 Bond with his next court appearance scheduled for January 3rd at 9:00AM
