Man arrested for theft and burglary charges after getting stuck on the tracks

Police were responding to an accident on the 3100 Block of Highway 75 in Sioux City, Iowa after a pickup had gotten stuck on the tracks.

According to court documents Nicolas Shannon Penny, 36 was driving a Stolen 2005 Ford F350, from Omaha Nebraska when he got the truck high centered while trying to get around a stopped train. He then entered private property and took a Bobcat from Sooland Bobcat driving it through a fence in order to retrieve the stuck truck.

Police found that the truck had a stolen license plate in addition to another plate. The truck ignition had been removed. The bobcat received additional damage to the door from improper use of the bobcat by lifting the bucket with the door open.

Nicolas Shannon Penny, 36 was arrested and booked into the Woodbury County Jail on Theft 2nd, Burglary 3rd, Criminal Mischief 2nd, Criminal Trespass, Theft 5th, and No Drivers License. He’s currently being held on $15,500 Bond.
