Woman dies after being struck by semi on Interstate 29 early Thursday Morning

About 3:26 a.m. a Semi Driver notified police he had hit someone on Interstate 29 Southbound near the Hamilton Blvd Exit in Sioux City Early Thursday Morning April 20th.

Sioux City Police, North Sioux City Police, Iowa State Patrol, Siouxland Paramedics and Sioux City Fire Rescue Responded to the scene. Initial police reports indicated a female was located that had been struck she was initially responsive to light.

Law Enforcement began to investigate the incident and shut down and rerouted traffic on Interstate 29 at the Riverside Blvd exit.

A release from Sioux City Police says that a woman died as a result of her injuries. She was transported to Mercy Medical Center. The interstate was reopened about 6:30 a.m.
