Man arrested after firing a shot from a stolen handgun

At 8:30 pm on Sunday, July 23rd Sioux City Police responded to 17th and Pierce for reports of a disturbance that involved a male with a gun.

Court documents say that Mario Francisco Hernandez-Gonzalez, 30 was looking for a female when he asked someone in the area where they were at while displaying a 9mm handgun. He repeated his demand while pointing the gun and firing a single shot over the victim's shoulder. Court documents say the handgun recovered was reported stolen from a vehicle in Sioux City on July 8th.

Hernandez-Gonzalez was taken into custody and charged with Intimidation with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, going armed with intent, and theft 4th. His bond is set at $50,000 and has an ICE hold. He's scheduled to be back in court on August 3rd at 9:00 am.
