Additional details released Monday in Sundays Stabbing Death in Sioux City

In a Monday morning press conference Sioux City Police say that Melissa Camagaro Flores waited for the victim, 24-year-old Kenia Alvarez Flores outside her home where Camargo stabbed her to death as she was walking to her car to go to work.

Police said the two knew each other and the murder was premeditated but could not elaborate further at this time.

Chief Mueller thanked the officers and detectives involved for such a quick arrest. He reminded citizens that this type of crime does not indicate crime is getting worse, that crimes of passion are hard to prevent or predict.

Melissa Camargo Flores is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $500,000 Bond and scheduled to be in court on April 19th.

Just before 8:00 am Sunday Morning April 8th Sioux City Police, Fire and EMS responded to the 1200 block of West 14th for reports of a stabbing.

A release from Sioux City Police says the victim was transported to the hospital and treated for multiple stab wounds. The victim who has not yet been identified died from their injuries.

Police received information about the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near 16th and Douglas Street just after 8:00 am where they took Melissa Camagaro Flores, 20 of Dakota City into custody charged with Murder in the 1st Degree. Camargo Flores was also treated for a self-inflicted stab wound.
