Downtown 4-hour standoff ends without injury

Police were called to an apartment building on the 1100 Block of 4th Street on Sunday Evening shortly after 8:00PM to do a welfare check on a male.

Once Police arrived and confronted the man they were met with a shotgun. Police retreated and worked for hours to get the man to surrender.

Witnesses tell Siouxland Scanner that residents were given the option to leave or lock down in place. Some residents that were not home when the incident began and returned during the incident were not allowed to enter.

Around 12:30AM Monday Morning police reportedly used teargas to draw the man out. He ultimately surrendered and was taken to the hospital for observation.
