Man arrested on numerous charges after it was reported someone had a shotgun

On Friday, March 17, officers responded to the 1300 Block of West 2nd Street for reports of someone with a shotgun.


Police arrived on scene and detained the occupants of the vehicle while conducting their investigation. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and its' contents. A sawed-off shotgun, a knife with a blade larger than 3 inches, .6 Grams of Methamphetamine, clear plastic baggies, syringes and a meth pipe with burnt residue were located.

Aaron Marc Hanslip, 24 was arrested on drug, dangerous weapons, and possession of a firearm by a felon. When at the jail Hanslip was being escorted back to his cell after being told to hang up the telephone after becoming belligerent. He struck a correctional officer in the face adding an assault charge.

Police responded to the 1300 Block of West 2nd about 3:45PM on Friday for reports of a man with a shotgun.

The 3 occupants complied with police commands and were taken into custody without incident. Police on scene were not able to provide information about the incident except to say they did locate drugs and the 3 were being transported to the Police Department for questioning.
