Police were called to the 1700 Block of Douglas Street in Sioux City just after 11:00 p.m. on Friday evening for reports of an attempted burglary.
Scanner traffic indicated 2 black males broke a window and kicked in a door trying to break into an apartment. Police responded setting up a perimeter, speaking with witnesses, residents, and victims. Radio traffic indicated a loaded handgun was found.
Police were on the scene for about two hours taking photos, statements and investigating.
We spoke to Sergeant Clausen on the scene and he said that the call was reported as a burglary but was actually a dispute between neighbors that turned into an assault with one victim receiving minor cuts from a blade. Siouxland Paramedics and Sioux City Fire Rescue responded for the injury. A neighbor told us there is often disturbances in the apartment building.
