Two with gunshot wounds show up at hospital after shots fired calls on Sioux Citys Westside

About 6:24 pm multiple 911 calls were received of shots being fired on the 500 block of West Street on Sioux City Westside Neigborhood Monday, September 4th.


Police say shortly after they arrived on scene 2 individuals showed up at Unity Point St Lukes Hosptial with gunshot wounds. a 22-year-old male from Sioux City was treated and released for a minor gunshot injury to his ankle. A 20-year-old male from Decatur, IL was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries to his arm. Evidence including shell casings was recovered at the scene. A home was struck when it's believed two groups of people exchanged gunfire.

No other information is being released by police at this time.

Witnesses say they heard a single gunshot followed by multiple gunshots and then a vehicle that sped with multiple individuals was pulled over a few blocks away near West Palmer and George Streets where they say many of the occupants were detained by police.

Officials are asking that anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 712-258-8477 information that leads to an arrest and/or conviction may be eligible for a cash reward and tipsters may remain anonymous.
