Sioux City Police, Fire and EMS responded to 11th and Dubuque in Sioux City about 6:30 pm Tuesday, December 12th after reports that a semi had almost hit a home and then crashed into a tree.

Medical assistance was provided on the scene and the driver transported to Mercy Medical Center where they later died. The driver's name is not being released at this time.

Police say they believed the truck had just unloaded and was Eastbound on 11th Street when they had a medical emergency. They believe the truck rolled backward almost striking a home on Dubuque and then drove forward before coming to a rest against a tree on 11th Street.

The incident remains under investigation.
