Near hour long pursuit of stolen motorcycle ends when driver lost control near Smithland

Woodbury County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to stop a Blue 2002 Yamaha FZS Motorcycle near South Lewis and Gordon about 2:00AM Friday Morning when the driver Bryan Malloy, 49 led deputies on a 45-mile long pursuit.


Shortly after the pursuit began the driver started went  Southbound on Old 141 and continued to elude law enforcement until he lost control of his motorcycle near Smithland, Iowa about 2:45AM. Deputies reported speeds of over 80MPH at the start of the pursuit, about half way through they reported the motorcycle was driving on a flat tire and speeds were around 30MPH.

The motorcycle had non-matching plates and was later identified as stolen. This is not the first vehicle Malloy has been accused of stealing in recent months. Sioux City Police assisted, but did not join the pursuit at the start and Iowa State Patrol assisted at its conclusion. 

Malloy was transported by ambulance to the hospital to be checked out and later booked into the Woodbury County Jail on charges of Eluding, Theft 2nd, Reckless Driving, Fail to stop at a stop sign, Driving left of center, Speeding, OWI, Driving while barred and Fraudulent registration.
