ARRESTED Suspect in early morning assault and afternoon man hunt behind bars

Kraig Beltz has been arrested near McDonalds about 10:00PM and booked into Dakota County Jail.

Dakota County Sheriff’s Department was called to the area of 467 Dixon Path just before 4:00AM on Friday for reports that a man was beaten with a hammer by his coworker. The suspect had left the area but may be armed with a gun. They were unable to locate the suspect at the time. They requested Sioux City Police to check a known address for him.

Shortly after Noon on Friday the search heated up near Covington Golf Course in South Sioux City where the subjects motorcycle a Black Yamaha R6 was found and the suspect was spotted going over a fence and into a corn field next to the Golf Course. It’s believed he was in the area to retrieve a gun and ammo that was found during the search. They were unable to locate the suspect but they did find a loaded 9mm gun and a homemade silencer. Law Enforcement described the suspect as a tall male in his 30’s with strawberry blonde hair. According to Siouxland Scanner sources, but not confirmed by Law Enforcement the suspect they are looking for is Kraig Beltz and up until this afternoon was driving a motorcycle which was towed from Covington Golf Course.

The victim of the beating is said to be in the hospital his condition and name is not known at this time.

Multiple agencies responded and assisted in the search including Dakota County Sheriff’s Department, South Sioux Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, South Sioux Fire Rescue. Law enforcement searched on foot, by car, by boat, by helicopter and with K9’s and Drones.
