Just after 8:00 am Wednesday morning September 7th officers inside the law enforcement center hear what they believed to be gunshots.

Outside they found a female on the ground that had been shot, she was rushed to the hospital by South Sioux City Ambulance with life threatening injuries. We learned just after 11:00 am on Wednesday she had died as a result of her injuries.

Officers located a weapon and a male who was taken into custody nearby without incident. It's believed they arrived in separate vehicles, police are interviewing the male suspect, reviewing surveillance video from the scene and trying to piece together what happened. A portion of the parking lot was blocked off so investigators could gather evidence.
