Two USD football players arrested on rape charges after off campus incident

The criminal complaint says that Rambo, Williamson and another male, also a football player at USD along with three friends met at an off-campus residence to watch a movie. After 2 of the friends left, documents say that Rambo performed unwanted sex acts on a female and Williamson attempted to by grabbing the victim by the hair. Documents say that Rambo admitted to making sexual contact and Williamson denied any involvement saying he wasn’t in the room.

All three players have been suspended from the University of South Dakota Coyotes Football Team.

A statement from USD President James W. Abbot says “the university continues to cooperate with Vermillion police”. “This is a very troubling accusation, and University Police will assist the Vermillion investigation in any way possible, The university is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all of our students.”

A release from Vermillion Police Department says that they have arrested 2 suspects after a Sexual Assault investigation of an incident that occurred off campus on October 22nd.

Arrest warrants were issued and both suspects, freshman football players at the University of South Dakota who turned themselves in without incident on October 28th.

Danny Rambo Jr, 20 of Donalsonville, GA was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Rape, held on $25,000 Bond

Dale Williamson Jr, 21 of Texarkana, TX was arrested and charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Rape, held on $20,000 Bond
