Just after 6:00 pm Wednesday, January 10th a man showed up at Mercy Medical Center with a gunshot wound. A short time later 26-year-old Javier Cheron was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
A release from Sioux City Police says the investigation lead them to 1609 Jones Street in Sioux City, a search warrant was obtained for the residence. During the search, several handguns and illegal drugs were located.
Police arrested Liborio Martinez-Rubio, 60 charged with possession with the intent to deliver Methamphetamine, multiple counts of Felon in possession of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, trafficking stolen firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no drug tax stamp. He's being held in Woodbury County Jail on $500,000 Bond and has an ICE hold.
The investigation into the shooting and death of Cheron is ongoing.
