Sioux Falls double homicide suspect arrested in South Sioux Tuesday after 3 hour standoff

A release from South Sioux City Police Department says that about 6:30 pm on Tuesday, January 16th they were contacted by the US Marshalls that 34-year-old Manuel Fias wanted for a double homicide in Sioux Falls South Dakota was possibly at a residence in South Sioux City.


A perimeter was setup and surveillance established. A team comprised of officers from South Sioux City Police Department, Dakota County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska State Patrol, US Marshalls and Sioux City Police working with Sioux Falls South Dakota Police Department moved in on the house.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office and South Sioux City Police Department Special Response Team were preparing to throw a phone into the home to start negotiations. Announcements were made over a PA system and the suspect came out of the residence and was taken into custody about 9:45pm without incident.

They say the cooperation with the numerous agencies involved was second to none and made for a successful outcome.

The suspect is being held for Sioux Falls Police in the Dakota County Jail.

34-year-old Manuel Frias was arrested in South Sioux City Nebraska on Tuesday Evening after a three and half hour standoff with law enforcement at 301 East 20th Street.

Frias is wanted in connection with a Sioux Falls double homicide on January 5th.
