Man arrested for theft and burglary after foot chase Wednesday Morning

Court documents say Sioux City Police noticed that a gate to a business was heavily damaged Wednesday morning about 3:01 am on the 1800 block of 3rd Street in Sioux City. Further investigation found in addition to the damaged gate a 2004 Chevrolet truck was also damaged and a 1999 Ford Truck was stolen.

Review of security camera footage shows the defendant entering the property about 2:35 am through a secured gate with barbwire. He then unhooked a trailer from a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and rammed the gate 3 time before breaking through. The gate, fence, and truck were heavily damaged. Damage was in excess of $10,000. He then stole a 1999 Ford F350 fro the business.

About an hour later he was spotted as he ran from the truck in the 300 block of 3rd Street before being apprehended after a three block foot chase.

Casey Allen Coon, 22 was charged with 2 counts of theft 2nd, burglary 3rd, criminal mischief, simple eluding and failure to obey a police officer. He’s being held on $20,00 Bond with his next court appearance scheduled for February 23rd at 9:00 am
