Two arrested after K9s track Hubbard Burglary suspects

Sunday, June 10th about 1:30 pm Dakota County Deputies responded to a call of a Burglary in Process on the 1900 Block of South Bluff Road. When deputies arrived the suspects took off on an ATV.


Nebraska State Patrol Troopers, K9, and Ariel support assisted Dakota County Deputies in searching for the suspects. The first Michael Rees, 29 was located hiding in the woods. The heat, humidity, and terrain exhausted the K9.

Sioux City Police K9, Dakota County Deputies, and Nebraska State Trooper conditioned the track and found Derek Malloy, 31 hiding in a tree.

Both Michael Rees and Derek Malloy were arrested and charged with Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, Obstruct Government Operation. The investigation is ongoing.
