Tri-State Pursuit Friday afternoon related to early morning robbery in Sioux City

Sioux City Police say they responded to reports of an armed robbery with theft of a car near 18th and Grandview about 12:30 a.m. Friday morning.


The incident included a male with a handgun and two females that approached the victim as he was in the area dropping something off. The suspects left the area with the victim's car, the victim was uninjured.

About 3:00 pm Friday afternoon an undercover officer spotted the stolen vehicle and began to follow it while officers responded.

The vehicle sped off into North Sioux City from Riverside and North Sioux City officers attempted to pull it over. The driver eluded officers and the pursuit continued back into Iowa on interstate 29 and then into South Sioux City Nebraska before coming back into Sioux City.

Officers were able to deploy spike strips which deflated the tires in eventually rendered the vehicle inoperable, the suspects were taken into custody.

Police arrested 25-year-old Kenneth Azure charged with theft 2nd and felony eluding, 21-year-old Angelia Zavala charged with theft 2nd, 30-year-old Daune Twite charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and 21 year old Rumour Schlitz charged with simple eluding.


The Sioux City Police Department was assisted by the North Sioux City Police Department, The South Sioux City Police Department and the Iowa State patrol.
