Transient arrested sleeping in one of multiple vehicles stolen in Sioux City

Sioux City Police say Jacob W. Monell a 33-year-old transient was arrested on August 22nd after he was found by the vehicle owner sleeping in the backseat about 8:00 am in the 400 block of Douglas.

Monell is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $25,000 Bond charges includes Theft 1st, Theft 2nd, Burglary to Vehicle 3rd, and Operating without Owners Consent.

Police say in addition to the vehicle he was found sleeping in that was stolen from the 1600 block of S Helen, he's been linked to a vehicle stolen on the 21st from the 400 block of West 3rd, and one stolen from the 3000 block of Euclid Ave on the 22nd. He's also been charged with burglary to a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Jones on the 22nd.

The investigation continues and detectives are looking into similar burglaries and thefts that he may have been involved in.
